Manufacturing

Manufacturing takes a product from bill of materials to finished goods. Define what goes into each product once, then launch a production order for every build and follow it through its work steps. When an order finishes, components come out of stock and finished goods go in, so Inventory stays right without a separate count.

What you can do

• Define what goes into each product. A bill of materials lists the components for one product, including sub-assemblies and by-products, so every build pulls the same list.
• Track every build. Production orders follow each build step by step until it is done.
• Map your shop floor. Work centers describe where the work happens, and each work step points at one.
• Keep stock accurate. Finishing an order consumes the components and adds the finished goods automatically.

Configuration

Start by defining a bill of materials and work centers for each product you build. Components are tracked in Inventory; buy them through Purchase.
