Types & accruals

Time Off runs on the types, holidays, and allocations you set up. Configure these once and balances keep themselves.

Define time-off types

Create a type for each kind of leave your company offers. Common ones are holiday, sick, and unpaid. For each type, set whether it is paid, whether it needs approval, and how it counts against a balance.

Name the types in plain language so staff pick the right one when they request leave.

Set public holidays

Enter your public holidays for the year. List the date and name of each one. The calendar treats these days as company-wide time off, so they do not eat into anyone's personal balance and they show on the team calendar.

Set allocations and accrual plans

Give each employee an allocation for a type, such as 25 holiday days a year. You can grant the full amount up front or build it over time.

For balances that grow as people work, use an accrual plan:

  1. Create an accrual plan and set the rate, such as two days earned per month.
  2. Set any cap so balances do not grow without limit.
  3. Link the plan to a time-off type.
  4. Assign the plan to employees.

Once a plan is running, balances update on their own. You do not adjust days by hand.
