Set up your store

Your store sells whatever you publish from the workspace catalog. Setup is three steps: put products online, connect a payment provider so customers can pay, and add the shipping options you offer. If eCommerce is not in your workspace yet, activation comes first.

Turn on eCommerce

Workspaces set up for retail already have eCommerce. Anywhere else, an admin adds it:

  1. Open Apps from the app menu.
  2. Find eCommerce.
  3. Click Activate.

The full flow is in Turn apps on and off.

Publish products

Store products are not a separate list. They are the same product records Sales and Inventory use, so prices and stock stay right without any syncing.

  1. Open the eCommerce app and create a product, or pick one your catalog already has.
  2. Add what a shopper needs to buy it: photos, a description, and variants such as size or color.
  3. Open the product's page on your site and flip its switch to Published.

Products start unpublished, so nothing goes live before you are ready. To change a price, change it on the product record; the store follows.

Design the shop pages

The shop, product pages, and cart are pages on your website. Click Edit on any of them and change layout, text, and images with the same block editor you use everywhere else. Pages, menus & publishing covers the editor.

Connect a payment provider

Customers pay through a payment provider, the company that processes the card and settles the money to your bank. You need an account with a provider; the platform does not process cards itself. Connect the provider you already use, or open an account with one first.

  1. Open the eCommerce settings.
  2. Pick your payment provider and enter the account keys from your provider account.
  3. Enable it. Checkout now takes payment through that provider.

Set up shipping

Add a shipping option for each way you deliver, such as a flat-rate ground option or in-store pickup.

  1. In the eCommerce settings, create a shipping method.
  2. Give it a name the customer will see, and a price.
  3. Add more methods if you offer choices. The customer picks one at checkout, and the charge joins the order.

Place a test order

Before you announce the store, buy from it yourself: add a product to the cart, check out, and confirm the order shows up in Sales. Orders, payment & fulfillment shows what to expect.
